Kuhns pitched two seasons at Tennessee before declaring as a draft-eligible sophomore. As a freshman in 2025 he made 15 appearances (10 starts) over 36.2 innings with a 5.40 ERA and 40 strikeouts; in 2026 he became the Vols' top arm, going 5-5 with a 3.56 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP across 81 innings.
